This common fruit on our tables not only has a preventive effect on this disease, but can also help reverse the damage already caused to the bone.
We’re going to allow us to add a new member to that already bulky list of superfoods: prunes. The truth is that we have plenty of reason to do so and it doesn’t obey a mere whim. Not for nothing, recent studies have shown that this product can become the best food for people with osteoporosis and even prevent colon cancer, as well as nourish us thanks to its great contribution of minerals and vitamins. Let’s look at it carefully in the following paragraphs.
A recent study by Florida State University (USA), the results of which were published in the British Journal of Nutrition, revealed that women with menopause, which usually reaches around age 50, could improve their bone density levels by ingesting prunes. The results obtained excite the authors of the study, who demand more attention for this dried fruit. The research in attendance was attended by 89 postmenopausal women who included prunes in their diet for an entire year.
Best of all, it is how easy it is to incorporate this food into our diet, whose consumption has such obvious benefits for the prevention of fractures and other problems associated with osteoporosis. “Throughout my career I have tested numerous fruits, including figs, dates, strawberries and raisins.
And none of them even come close to the effect of prunes. All fruits and vegetables have a positive effect on nutrition, but in terms of bone health, this particular food is exceptional,” explained study manager Professor Bahram H. Arjmandi.
